Saffronart Timeless Jewels 2017

Back from India and just received this photo of me speaking at the @saffronartindia jewellery conference on ‘The Timeless Legacy of Indian Jewels’ in Mumbai which reminded what a great event it was – feel very lucky to have been part of it.

Learnt a huge amount about the rich history of Indian jewelry from a fascinating group of speakers including jewellery historian, Usha Balakrishnan, Tom Moses (@giagrams ), Susan Stronge (@vandajewellery ), Lisa Hubbard (former head of jewellery of @sothebys ).

Hard to pick out the highlights but given the historic links with Jacques Cartier, I especially loved the closing presentation from Maharani Radhikaraje Gaekwad who shared images of the historic jewels relating to Royal Family of Baroda.

I wasn’t fully aware of just how absorbing the vast 5000 year heritage of Indian jewellery is, ranging from the Great Mughals to the Maharajas… The world needs to know more about this legacy!

For those who missed it, the audio of much of the conference is available here:
